Krewella Dishes on New Music as They Prep to Perform at L.A. Pride Music Festival

Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf, the electropunk sister duo known as Krewella, recently released their EP Ammunition and opened up to The Insider With Yahoo about their first release since 2013’s Get Wet.

“It was a culmination of all the crazy s**t that happened to us over the course of two and a half years,” Yasmine said.

After their first album dropped, the girls had a falling-out with former band member Kris Trindl, and now, three years later, Krewella is back as a duo and stronger than ever.

On Wednesday, the band shared the music video for their track “Broken Record” and revealed that making it was a family affair.

“Our older sister actually worked on the video with her friends,” Jahan noted. “What she did is she just printed out hundreds and hundreds of pictures of us, filmed it, ripped it up. She’s an incredible illustrator. You’ll see a lot of hand-drawn illustrations in the video too. That’s all our sister.”

Krewella will kick off their Sweatbox tour in the fall, but before they hit the road, they’re performing at the L.A. Pride Music Festival in West Hollywood on Friday, June 10.

“It’s one of those shows that’s going to be a very loving, welcoming environment,” Yasmine said. “It really means a lot to us.”
