Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney Had Sex on a Canvas for ‘Peace’ and V Magazine

All week, Lady Gaga has been slowly rolling out each of the 16 covers for V magazine’s January issue, guest edited by herself. The latest is the most personal one yet.
The cover features Gaga and her fiancé, Taylor Kinney, both nude, in a mirror selfie, taken by Kinney himself. The two are covered in paint, the result of the pair having sex on canvas “for peace,” as Gaga put it.

In a letter from the editor, Gaga explains the reasons behind the cover, which one can’t help but compare to John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s famous bed-ins, protesting the Vietnam War.

“We made love on the canvas on a Sunday in Chicago,” Gaga writes. “We made love amidst chaos. We talked about shootings. We made love amidst terrorism. And we talked about how people’s hearts are also suffering all over the world as they watch and witness a swell of violence. We made love amidst violence.”
The resulting painting is mostly purple and green, with red and yellow accents. If we’re being honest, it’ll probably be auctioned off for a staggering amount of money someday.

“During tumultuous times, we hope everyone in the world will see this and be reminded to love each other wildly, generously, totally, colorfully, without fear and with compassionate hearts,” Gaga wrote. “We made a galaxy of endless colors with only brief, black holes of emptiness that are then filled by each other.”
All of the proceeds from this specific cover will go to Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation. You can buy it here.
