Michael Fassbender on His Off-Screen Romance With Costar Alicia Vikander: ‘I’m Glad It Happened’
Michael Fassbender doesn’t talk about his onscreen romance turned real-life love affair, in fact very rarely does he mention his girlfriend Alicia Vikander.
But these days, he seemingly can’t escape questions about his two-year relationship with Vikander, 28, while promoting his new film The Light Between Two Oceans, which she also stars in.
“Is it hard for you when everyone wants to ask you about ?” Good Morning Britain‘s Richard Arnold asked Fassbender, 39, during an interview on Wednesday. “It’s not really difficult. I just answer what I choose to answer and don’t answer other things,” the actor responded.
“It just happened, I’m glad it happened, and you know it is what it is,” he concluded.
The couple first met while filming the Derek Cianfrance-directed movie in 2014. They made their awards-show debut as a couple at the Golden Globes in January.
“It wasn’t the first time in a movie either of us had played somebody who is falling in love. There is an element of separation there,” he previously told Entertainment Weekly about falling in love on set. “If I’m playing a murderer, I don’t go out and start murdering people.”
