Peek Inside Mariah Carey's Shoe Room — and Try Not to Drool
Yes, Lambily — Mariah Carey’s shoe room is as opulent as you’d expect.
Fresh off her continent-hopping yacht trip with her billionaire boyfriend James Packer, the “Infinity” singer reminded us why she’s remained a top celebrity (or over-the-top celebrity?) for so many years by sharing a glimpse inside her closet. The photo taken in her posh Manhattan pad showed just a fraction of her ginormous shoe collection (she has more than 1,000 pairs) displayed more lavishly than the Shoe Salon at Bergdorf Goodman.
“Always my favorite room in the house…” Mariah captioned the photo of the metallic and black colored shoes (mostly stilettos), which are artfully displayed on white shelves under spotlights. Knee-length boots are seen along the bottom of each cabinet. The floors are gold-leaf and bleached-wood and a pink and gold chair is there for Nick Cannon’s ex to rest her famous tush in while she wiggles her little piggies into her shoes.
This isn’t the first time that Carey showed off her so-called favorite room. She gave InStyle a tour of her 12,000-square-foot Tribeca triplex in 2006 and said that she had, “about 1,000 pairs of shoes,” but noted that “lots are in storage.” That spread included an expanded shot of the room, which also has a vintage chandelier hanging from the ceiling.
Carey also memorably gave a tour of the apartment back in 2002 for MTV’s Cribs. (We know we’re dating ourselves.) In one scene from that, the diva had an assistant strapping a stiletto on her foot.
In an interview with Us Weekly last week, Mariah said that she often swims in heels (and evening gowns!), making us wonder if there’s a section of the shoe room devoted just to footwear that she’ll allow to get wet. We’re sure there is. We are talking about Mariah, after all.
