Pharrell and ‘Hidden Figures’ Cast Respond to Jenna Bush Hager’s Apology
Water under the bridge.
The Hidden Figures cast has reacted to Jenna Bush Hager’s apology. This morning, the Today show correspondent made a tearful mea culpa on camera for accidentally calling the film Hidden Fences while interviewing Pharrell Williams on Sunday’s Golden Globes red carpet.
“You’re nominated for Hidden Fences,” she said to Williams, who was nominated for best original score for Hidden Figures. The films Hidden Figures and Fences, both of which feature African-American stars, were each nominated for various awards on Sunday night.

“I’ve seen both movies, I thought they were both brilliant. I’ve interviewed casts from both of the movies. And if I offended people, I am deeply sorry,” Hager said on Monday. “It was a mistake. … I am not perfect. I’m authentic, but a human. And what I didn’t want to do was make anybody feel lesser than who they are.”
Williams, along with stars Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monáe, responded to Jenna’s on-air apology.
Don't worry @JennaBushHager!Everyone makes mistakes. Hidden Fences does sound like an intriguing movie though. Just saying… ?????????

Hager wasn’t the only one to make the mistake. As he was listing the nominees for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture, Michael Keaton also dubbed the film Hidden Fences in announcing Octavia Spencer’s nomination. Viola Davis ended up winning for Fences.
“I’m sorry, I apologize, I screwed it up,” he told TMZ on Sunday night, adding sarcastically, “I’m a horrible person. … I’m gonna sleep pretty well.”
