Crafter Laces Her World With Beauty

When you hear the term ‘lace’ anywhere, it’s easy to have your mind immediately jump to visions of teatime décor or delicate finishes on gowns and veils. Not so with this artist’s take. The artist, who goes by the name Nespoon, is based in Warsaw, Poland, and uses the intricately patterned look of lace to inspire her many works of street art. She uses stencils and spray paint to create large murals on walls, streets, and variety of urban space settings. Taking the medium of street art to another level of breaking convention, Nespoon also integrates actual crocheted lace doilies into the cityscapes, to a surprisingly organic effect, with her handiwork resembling beautiful cobwebs adorning the abandoned buildings. Her use of a traditional material like lace to concoct a new kind of street art is a great example of how a dose of imagination can bring a fresh new take to a classic.
