DIY Festive Tree Topper From Items You Already Have
A festive Christmas tree deserves a festive tree topper and nothing says “dressed up” more than a top hat! This holiday season trade in the star for this tin can tree topper! You probably have half the materials you need at home already, so this project really couldn’t be easier or more affordable.
Materials:
Empty tin can
Can lid (we used the lid from a holiday popcorn tin)
Tinsel garland
Ornaments
Feathers
Tools:
Hot glue gun
Exacto knife
Instructions:
1. Glue the tinsel around the tin can. Wrap it around as you go, so the whole can is covered, and keep going until you’ve spiraled your way to the center of the bottom of the can.
2. Cut the center out of the lid, so that you can place the hat on top of the tree.
3. Glue the lid to the open end of the tin to create the brim of the hat.
4. Thread the feathers in between the tinsel to attach them.
5. Glue on the ornaments for a decorative flourish.
And voila! Hat’s off to your new tree topper!
