Wine, Candles, and a Book: Bathtime Just Got Better
It’s your time to finally unwind and relax ... but not everyone likes to just close their eyes during bath time. Some of us want to read and drink wine by candlelight while enjoying a good soak. How do you bring your favorite delights with you to the bath and keep them dry. Try this DIY bath desk. A candle, a book, a glass of wine …. hey, you might even want to write a love letter while you're at it.
Materials:
Plank of wood the width of your bathtub
Beeswax
Copper sheet (scrap size is OK)
Copper nails
Votive cup holder
Votive candle
Rubber pads
Tools:
Wood saw
Hammer
Hot glue gun
Soft cloth
scissors
Instructions:
Cut the wood to the width of your bath plus 2”
Rub with Beeswax, let dry, polish when dry
Cut out a square of copper big enough to cover the base of a wine glass plus 1” all around
Cut out a 1/4” slit from the middle of the square to the edge of the copper
Nail the three other sides of the copper square down to the corner of the bath desk, positioning the opening nearest the bather.
Hot glue the votive cup holder to the left-side upper corner.
Flip the desk over and hot glue the rubber pads to the outer edges to make it non-slip. (Trim with scissors if necessary.)
Add a votive candle to the cup, light it up, pour yourself a drink and relax!
Hint:
Choose a plank with a beautiful wood grain.
