15 Anime Couples That Made You Feel Love Is Real

Anime fans far and wide have their favorite couples to watch and cheer for from their favorite shows. Whether it be because of how strong they are as a pair or just how damn cute they are when they're on screen together.

For me personally, I love it when opposites attract. I know it sounds cliche but the dynamic between characters when they completely can't stand each other yet find something that ties them together always gets me.

I've made a list of 15 of my favorite couples that have warmed my heart over the years.

There's no particular order so don't stress about who I like more than another and I've chosen couples who have both dated or have been interested in each other.

Spoilers ahead!

1.Yato & Hiyori (Noragami)

Yato hugging Hiyori excitedly after a battle

When my partner wanted to watch Noragami I wasn't too interested considering the mass amounts of shows we had to catch up on, but as she watched episode by episode I started getting intrigued. Here's a God who can come off childish and crude and just an ass at times, but as you see him develop and see his relationship with Hiyori grow you see the kindness and loyalty he displays. It's the moment when they watch the fireworks that you come to realize just how mutual their affection is for each other which will be exciting to continue to see in future seasons.

2.Ichigo & Orihime (Bleach)

Orihime and Ichigo holding hands as they look into the distance

Ichigo is a headstrong, stubborn short-tempered badass. Orihime is kind, sensitive, and soft-spoken, even when Ichigo is at his loudest. It's Ichigo's love and loyalty for his friends that has allowed him to eventually give himself to fall for his friend Orihime. It's a love that you see coming a mile away and although the manga has already explored what their future looks like, it seems that we will finally get to see it on screen when the new season airs.

3.Meliodas & Elizabeth (Seven Deadly Sins)

Meliodas and Elizabeth smiling during their wedding day

If you have watched Seven Deadly Sins you know that many of the main characters are in one form or another fighting for love. None greater than Meliodas who has had to endure thousands of years of punishment seeing his beloved Elizabeth die repeatedly knowing he couldn't because of a curse his father had cast on him. It's not until the end of the series that we finally get to see the pair wed and live out their happy ending after finally defeating the Demon King and freeing themselves of the curse that plagued them.

4.Tatsumi & Mine (Akame Ga Kill!)

Mine and Tasumi kissing while Tatsumi has some tears in his eyes

This pair is probably one of the most tragic on the list, seeing that Mine doesn't profess her love for Night Raid's newest member Tatsumi until she's gravely injured. Their relationship is something out of a schoolyard romance but is shown to be something of worth when you see Mine determined to save her love after his capture. In hindsight, you can see that the ridicule and teasing that she displayed to Tatsumi was her way of fighting off her feelings for the small town boy.

5.Renji & Rukia (Bleach)

Renji running with Rukia in his arms as she looks up at him

Renji and Rukia share a love that's been forged since their youths. They have formed something that has not only pushed them both to be better Shinigami's and put their lives on the line for each other. Even when it looked like maybe Rukia and Ichigo might be a thing, it always made sense that Renji was the one for her considering their history and admiration for each other.

6.Naruto & Hinata (Naruto/ Naruto: Shippuden)

Yet another love we saw a mile away but one that took two series and a movie before we could see them finally pull the trigger on their love. Hinata was the girl who had pined over Naruto for years but was too shy and soft-spoken to do anything and Naruto was too focused on being the best to notice, which left a lot of fans frustrated. Though when it finally happens, you feel the weight lifted as these two were destined to be together, as the history they share makes for a storybook ending that never really ends as we see their love continue in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.

7.Kirigaya & Yuuki (Sword Art Online)

No relationship has been so integral to the start of an anime in my opinion as much as this one. Kirigaya's undying devotion to Yuuki carries the story from Season 1 through Season 3 as most of his motivation is driven by his love of Yuuki. It's impressive that I didn't get sick of their relationship or roll my eyes at their love for each other. You can understand how a couple who fell for each other in a virtual world after believing that they'd be stuck there forever would then want to do anything to get out and continue their love in the real world. It's this type of loyalty mixed with his swordsmanship that is probably why Kirigaya is so desired whenever he's around other women in the game.

8.Asuma & Kurenai (Naruto: Shippuden)

A tragic couple whose romance was never public but all the students knew of their relationship. It led to many funny moments with the students incessant questioning of their time spent together to which Asuma would always divert away from answering. We had hope that eventually, they could be more open about their relationship and see it blossom but his death broke many fans' hearts especially when you hear of Kurenai's pregnancy. They made my list, though, as they were selfless sensei's who were madly in love with each other and chose to keep their love a secret in order to give themselves to their students.

9.Kenshin & Kaoru (Rurouni Kenshin)

Kenshin picking up Kaoru in his arms after proposing to her

The moment Kenshin was attacked by Kaoru we knew that there might be something between these two. Sure enough, after 65 episodes we finally see the former assassin propose to the women he had been protecting for so long. The warmth and pacifism of Kenshin was always meant to complement the strong feminity of Kaoru, which made their engagement that much more satisfying.

10.Edward & Winry (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)

Edward coming in to hug to Winry

Their interactions were always comical as Winry was the only one who could build and repair Edward's mechanical limbs. The chemistry between these two was always there albeit somewhat tense since it would seem that Edward only would stop by when he needed something. Yet it was slowly revealed that the time these two had shared as children and in the present had built up to them falling for each other more than they might've liked to admit. It all culminates in them finally revealing how they feel about each other right before he goes back on his adventure, to which now more than ever, he has someone to come back to.

11.Inuyasha & Kagome (Inuyasha)

Kagome kissing Inuyasha preventing his transformation into a full demon

What a moment for anybody who knew that eventually, these two would end up together. It was totally cliche, but, damn did it still hit me as a kid watching this, as Kagome had to put her life at risk and kiss the half-demon in the middle of his transformation to save him. Now granted, similar to Naruto we see this moment in one of the anime movies but none the less it cemented their love for each other as Inuyasha was always a man between two hearts.

12.Ban & Elaine (Seven Deadly Sins)

Ban looking down lovingly at Elaine as she gives birth

Ban and Elaine are a love that on-screen looks, admittedly, somewhat awkward. Elaine being of the fairy race has a child-like appearance although being over 1000 years old. The beautiful thing about this couple is the determination to fight for each other when all odds were stacked against them, like many of the couples in Seven Deadly Sins. Ban had lost all hope in love seeing that his gift of immortality came at the cost of Elaine's life but after her limited resurrection at the hands of the Ten Commandments, he was determined to give her a second lease on life no matter what. Of course in charming Ban fashion, he is able to do so by figuring out how to finally give up his immortal power to give Elaine her life back. Still brings a tear to the eye.

13.Yusuke & Keiko (Yu Yu Hakusho)

Keiko kissing an open eyed and shocked Yusuke

Yusuke and Keiko are another couple who have known each other through their childhood and have developed a strong relationship. Keiko is a no non-sense type of girl who is quick to slap some sense into Yusuke when he deserves it. Though she might be short-tempered at times her love for Yusuke is always shown especially when dealing with all matters of the demon world, understanding that it must be difficult for her love to deal with the responsibilities he's been given.

Pierrot

14.Spike & Julia (Cowboy Bebop)

Julia about to embrace Spike

Although we didn't get to see too much of the pair on-screen together, Spike's motivation for faking his own death was to be with his love Julia. They have a complicated history, to say the least, and maybe even a bit toxic but the fact they wanted to escape their life of crime and start anew was something you hoped for. Of course, it didn't work out that way, and although they both ended up losing their lives by the end of it, I'd like to think that they both met in the afterlife.

Sunrise

15.Midoriya & Ochaco (My Hero Academia)

Midoriya complimenting Ochaco and her blushing profusely

This by far is one of my favorite potential couples. Though they have yet to reveal their true feelings to each other, it has been clear they both deeply care about each other, and in Ochaco's case, she has used her feelings for him to not distract her but to motivate her to be a better hero. It's the kind of romance I can't wait to come to fruition since they're both so kind and just perfect for each other. When the day comes I'm sure fans will cheer since it's been teased for so long now.
