The plaza will also pay homage to creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster who attended Glenville High School, along with Jerry’s wife who was the inspiration for Lois Lane.
The campaign coincides with the filming of the new Superman movie in various locations around Northeast Ohio, including Public Square, the Muni Lot and Mentor Headlands Beach State Park.
Organizers said no taxpayer money is being used for the Superman statue project. Instead, they are seeking donations from, “ordinary citizens from all walks of life who believe that a man can fly – at least one man.”
