Yvonne Craig, Batgirl from 1960s 'Batman' series, dies at 78
Yvonne Craig, who played Batgirl on the ABC 1960s series "Batman," died Monday. She was 78.
The actress passed away at her home in Pacific Palisades, California, according to her official website. Craig had been battling breast cancer that had metastasized to her liver.
She was known for her portrayal of Batgirl and alter ego, librarian Barbara Gordon, in the cult series starring Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin.
Craig, who was born in Illinois but grew up in Columbus, Ohio, also starred opposite Elvis Presley in the films "It Happened at the World's Fair" and "Kissin' Cousins."

She played Marta, the green Orion Slave Girl who wanted to kill Captain Kirk, in a third-season episode of the original "Star Trek" called "Whom Gods Destroy."
Other TV and film credits include "The Gene Krupa Story," "7 Women From Hell, "Ski Party," "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.," "Fantasy Island," "The Six Million Dollar Man" and "Mod Squad."

Most recently, she voiced the grandmother on Nickelodeon's "Olivia" animated series.
Craig is survived by her husband, Kenneth Aldrich, her sister Meridel Carson and nephews Christopher and Todd Carson.
A private service is being planned with no date set at the present time.
