OnlyOnAOL: Imagine having Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong play your dad
By: Donna Freydkin
She played the daughter of rocker Billie Joe Armstrong in "Ordinary World." And here's what you need to know about actress Madisyn Shipman, who hails from North Carolina. (And watch our interview with Armstrong above).
1. She's starring on the Nickelodeon series "Game Shakers," which is a dream come true. Her other dream costar? "Sandra Bullock. She's so inspiring on so many levels. It would be an honor to be able to meet her. That's definitely something on my bucket list. Being able to work with her would be amazing," says Shipman.
2. Armstrong is her pal in real life. "When I worked with him, I was so happy. I loved his music forever. He's got so much energy on stage. Oh my god, I have such a place in my heart for him. He's a genuine guy. We had an automatic connection. We had good chemistry. I felt an immediate bond with him. I don't know what it was. He calls me the daughter he never had. After he said that, we became really close. His wife is great. His sons are great. I love that whole family," says Shipman.
3. She got the acting bug early. As in, really early. "Ever since I was little I wanted to be in the performing arts. I used to put on shows for my grandmother and sing and dance and act wild. That's what started it all. From then it kept on developing," she says.
4. Being on stage, specifically Broadway, gets her fired up. "It's amaze-balls. I love it. It's the best experience you can have. It's very exhilarating. You have to commit to that role. Once you step into that character, you have to be committed to the extreme," she says.
