The 2023 Billboard Music Awards took place Sunday, Nov. 19, and featured a star-studded lineup of performers, not to mention some of the music industry’s biggest stars accepting their trophies with heartfelt speeches.

The first performance of the night was delivered by Colombian superstar Karol G, who opened with a medley of “Qlona,” “Ojos Ferrari” and “Labios Mordidos.” The former two are off her hit album Manana Sera Bonito, and the last is a collab with Kali Uchis from Kali’s upcoming set, Orquídeas. Karol is a finalist in five categories.

Mariah Carey offered a Debbie Allen-choreographed performance of her holiday hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which marked the first time that the pop superstar performed the festive classic during an awards show. After her set, Carey was honored with the Billboard chart achievement award, which her twins Monroe and Moroccan presented to her.

For Peso Pluma’s performance, the Mexican hitmaker stepped into the ring to perform “Rubicon” — alongside special guest Mike Tyson. Having the boxing legend perform with him, said Peso, was “a dream come true.” The musician also accepted the award for top Latin song, for his Eslabon Armado collaboration “Ella Baila Sola.”

The ceremony also featured sets by Stray Kids, new Billboard cover star Tate McRae, Morgan Wallen, NewJeans and others.

This year’s BBMAs — which were presented by Marriott Bonvoy — were rolled out with an innovative concept that entertained with not only performances, but exclusive content, behind-the-scenes moments, winner celebrations and more created by the artists.
