2024 Billboard Awards: Zach Bryan Leads With 21 Nominations, Taylor Swift Follows With 17
Zach Bryan might have skipped the Grammys but he’s the leading nominee at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards.
The alternative country singer has a whopping 21 nominations across 18 categories, including a bid for top artist. Taylor Swift follows with 17 nominations, while Morgan Wallen earned 11 and first-time nominee Sabrina Carpenter received nine. Those four acts, along with Drake, will compete for top artist at the Dec. 12 show, airing live on FOX, Paramount+ and Amazon’s Fire TV Channels.
More from The Hollywood Reporter
Bryan has topped the pop, rock and country charts with his albums The Great American Bar Scene and Zach Bryan. He won his first Grammy earlier this year but decided not to submit his latest work to the 2025 show. At the Billboard Awards, he received two nominations in several categories, including top country album, top rock album and top rock song. His other nods include top male artist, top Hot 100 songwriter, top country artist, top rock artist and top country song.
Swift and Drake — who earned eight nods — are tied as the most decorated artists in the show’s history with 39 wins apiece. And Swift is in a better position to take the lead thanks to her 17 nods, including two for top Billboard 200 album with The Tortured Poets Department and 1989 (Taylor’s Version). Her other nods include top female artist, top Hot 100 producer, top streaming songs artist and top radio songs artist.
Drake’s For All The Dogs will take on Swift’s albums and Bryan’s self-titled effort for top Billboard 200 album; Noah Kahan’s Stick Season is also up for the prize. Nominees for top Hot 100 song are Post Malone and Wallen’s “I Had Some Help,” Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things,” Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control,” Jack Harlow’s “Lovin on Me” and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” which is poised to match the 19-week record Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Old Town Road” set on the Hot 100 chart.
Artists who ventured to other genres also earned nominations: Thanks to Cowboy Carter and Renaissance, Beyoncé is nominated for top country album, top country female artist and top dance/electronic artist. Dolly Parton is up for best rock album with Rockstar and Malone scored nods for top country artist and top country song.
The nominees for the 2024 Billboard Awards align with Billboard’s Year-End Charts tracking period, which measures music consumption from the charts dated October 28, 2023 through October 19, 2024. Comedian-actress Michelle Buteau will host the two-event.
