‘Oppenheimer’ Wins 8 Critics Choice Awards, with ‘Beef’ and ‘The Bear’ Leading TV
Oppenheimer may have been unsung for years at the end of his life. But Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” certainly is not — the latest awards show it dominated was the Critics Choice Awards tonight, winning the most prizes of any film, eight total, including Best Picture. It also won Best Supporting Actor for Robert Downey Jr., Best Ensemble, Best Cinematography, Best Score, Best Editing, Best Visual Effects, and Best Director for Christopher Nolan. Read the full 2024 Critics Choice Awards winners list below.
“Barbie” got a whopping 18 nominations at the awards, which aired January 14 from the Barker Hangar at the Santa Monica Airport, with Chelsea Handler as MC. It came in second in the overall film haul with six wins: Best Song (“I’m Just Ken”), Original Screenplay, Production Design, Costume Design, Best Comedy, and Hair and Makeup.

Next up was “The Holdovers” with three awards: Best Supporting Actress Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Best Young Actor Dominic Sessa, and Best Actor Paul Giamatti.
There was no one title to dominate the Critics Choice TV nominations in quite the same way. But the show with the most overall nods was Apple TV+’s “The Morning Show,” with six total. “Succession” followed with five. However, the winners were a bit different.
The two shows that won the most overall Critics Choice Awards were “Beef” and “The Bear” with four each. “Beef” won Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series for Maria Bello, Best Actress in a Limited Series for Ali Wong, Best Actor in a Comedy Series for Steven Yeun, and Best Limited Series. “The Bear” won Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Best Actress in a Comedy Series for Ayo Edebiri, Best Actor in a Comedy Series for Jeremy Allen White, and Best Comedy Series.
“Succession,” meanwhile, took three prizes: Best Actor in a Drama Series Kieran Culkin, Best Actress in a Drama Series Sarah Snook, and Best Drama Series.
