2024 Emmy Predictions: Who Will Win at the Primetime Emmy Awards?
Editor’s Note: As Emmys season rolls along, IndieWire will update this page with in-depth Emmy predictions from Awards Editor Marcus Jones. A link to each category will lead to lists of the ever-changing contenders, plus reporting on what shows are playing well with voters, TV Academy rules changes, interviews with potential nominees, and more.
The State of the Race
Try not to get too confused, but 2024 is already due for another Emmys.
More from IndieWire
Although there was just a ceremony in January where the Television Academy awarded what its members felt was the best of what they had to offer last season, it is now time to honor the programs that aired between June 1, 2023 and May 31, 2024.
As if the preceding years were not enough of a rollercoaster, with shows shuffling around their schedules due to the pandemic, the complete shutdown of the industry in summer 2023, as both the Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild struck for a fair deal with the AMPTP, has resulted in a smaller pool of shows airing in time for Emmys eligibility.
Only one of the Outstanding Drama Series nominees and three of the Outstanding Comedy Series nominees (both categories had eight) are back in the running for Emmys, so the talent pool is already set to look quite different this year. How will the returning “Hacks” fare against new awards phenom “The Bear”? Does “The Morning Show” finally have a shot at some Drama category wins? And which of the dozens of limited series that still aired in time to be Emmys-eligible actually make the cut?
For those insights and more on the shows and stars we expect to be contenders this awards season, see the individual prediction pages listed below.
