2024 Oscars: winners and everything to know about the awards show
While the release of 2024 new movies is underway, the Oscars still have to hand out their awards to honor the best movies and performances of 2023 at the 2024 Oscars (we know it's confusing, but Oscars are always identified by the year they're presented even though they are awarding movies from the previous year).
The 2023 Oscars, which honored movies from 2022, saw Everything Everywhere All at Once go home as the latest Best Picture winner, as well as winning trophies for Director, Original Screenplay, Actress (Michelle Yeoh), Supporting Actor (Ke Hey Quan) and Supporting Actress (Jamie Lee Curtis). 2024 Oscars date
The 2024 Oscars are going to take place on Sunday, March 10.
The awards ceremony is once again airing on ABC, but they do have a new time, with the live ceremony broadcast starting at 7 pm ET/4 pm PT, an hour earlier than previous years.

2024 Oscars host
A familiar face is going to be hosting the Oscars in 2024 in Jimmy Kimmel, who is hosting the awards ceremony for the fourth time, previously doing so in 2023, 2018 and 2017.
Kimmel is now one of six people that have hosted the Oscars four or more times. Others that have hosted four times include Jack Lemmon and Whoopi Goldberg, while Johnny Carson hosted five times, Billy Crystal nine times and Bob Hope had the most with 19 appearances as host.
On Monday, February 12, during a new episode of his late night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kimmel revealed a Barbie-infused teaser for the show:

The Hollywood Reporter has shared that the Academy plans to have the acting trophies be presented by a group of past winners. Many of the already announced presenters would qualify for that, with Nicolas Cage, Brendan Fraser, Ben Kingsley, Matthew McConaughey, Al Pacino anad Forest Whitaker past Best Actor winners; Sally Field, Jessica Lange, Jennifer Lawrence, Charlize Theron and Michelle Yeoh having won Best Actress; Mahershala Ali, Ke Hey Quan, Tim Robbins, Sam Rockwell and Christoph Waltz Best Supporting Actor winners; and Jamie Lee Curtis, Rita Moreno, Lupita Nyong'o, Octavia Spencer and Mary Steenburgen all former Best Supporting Actress winners.
It has also been announced that all of the Best Original Song nominees will be performed, with Ryan Gosling and Mark Ronson performing "I'm Just Ken," Billie Eilish performing "What Was I Made For?", Becky G performing "The Fire Inside," Jon Batiste performing "It Never Went Away" and Scott George and the Osage Singers performing "Wahzhazhe (A Song for My People)."
2024 Oscars categories
While everyone knows the big six Oscar categories — Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress — there are a total of 23 Oscars that are going to be given at the 96th ceremony that recognize different aspects of the filmmaking process, both in front of the camera and the talented individuals behind it, as well as different style of movies, including documentaries and short films.
