2025 Critics Choice Awards to air live nationwide on E! with Chelsea Handler hosting again
The Critics Choice Awards has landed two new TV partners for its 30th annual edition: E! will air the Jan. 12 ceremony live nationwide while Peacock will stream it the next day. Returning to emcee for a third consecutive year is Chelsea Handler. The sassy stand-up, who hosted the late-night talker “Chelsea Lately” on E! for seven years beginning in 2007, said, “I feel like I’m returning to my birthplace.”
These precursor prizes have a stellar track record at previewing the eventual Oscar winners. Over its 29-year history, these kudos have previewed 17 Best Picture Oscar winners as well as 24 Best Director, 19 Best Actor, 16 Best Actress, 19 Supporting Actor and 20 Supporting Actress champs.

Last year, the CCA foresaw the outcomes in five of these six Oscar races. “Oppenheimer” won Best Picture, Director (Christopher Nolan) and Supporting Actor (Robert Downey, Jr.), Emma Stone (“Poor Things”) was Best Actress and Da’Vine Joy Randolph (“The Holdovers”) claimed Best Supporting Actress. Only Randolph’s leading man, Paul Giamatti, did not repeat at the Oscars with “Oppenheimer” star Cillian Murphy winning Best Actor there instead.
The Critics Choice Awards honor the best in both movies and TV. The small screen nominations are revealed on Dec. 5 while the big screen line-up is due out one week later.
