After two years in other venues (United Palace in Washington Heights and Lincoln Center on the Upper West Side), the Tonys are returning to their traditional home of Radio City Music Hall in midtown Manhattan, just one block from Broadway. The ceremony will run a full three hours on its longtime home of CBS. This kudocast will be broadcast live nationwide and will also stream on Paramount+.

Until 2000, the Tony Awards had taken place in one of the bigger Broadway theaters. But the ceremony shifted to this 6,000 seater at the behest of Rosie O’Donnell, who emceed that year’s show with Nathan Lane. Other than detours to the Beacon Theater in 2011, 2012 and 2016 (when Radio City was unavailable) and the Winter Garden in 2021 (for the COVID-delayed 2020 ceremony), the show has been staged ever since at this Art Deco palace.

No word on whether Oscar winner Ariana DeBose, who has hosted the ceremony for three years running, will return. She shared in Emmy bids for her first two Tonys. As the show airs after the May 31 deadline for Emmy consideration, we won’t know till next summer if she three-peats and lands a nomination for the 2024 edition of the Tonys.

The Tony Awards are produced in collaboration with Tony Award Productions, a joint venture of The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing, and White Cherry Entertainment. Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss are executive producers and showrunners for White Cherry Entertainment. Weiss will serve as director. Jack Sussman is also an executive producer.
