‘24: Legacy’ Sneak Peek: Corey Hawkins Saves the World (Just Like You-Know-Who)
Now that Jack Bauer is off POTUS-ing the country on ABC, there’s an opening on Fox for a new hero to save the world from vengeance-minded terrorists, and in this exclusive, action-packed preview of 24: Legacy, Eric Carter proves he’s just the guy to do it.
Carter, played by Straight Outta Compton and The Walking Dead star Corey Hawkins, is a special ops soldier, and after heading a squad that killed terrorist leader Ibrahim Bin-Khalid, he and his team have returned home and are trying to resume their lives with family and jobs.
But just as Eric is having a difficult enough time adjusting to his less-adrenaline-filled world, he gets shocking news: Members of his squad, who’ve been living under new identities, are being hunted down and assassinated by Bin-Khalid’s people. And Eric is next on their hit list.
Now, he not only has to worry about saving himself and his wife from Bin-Khalid’s people, but also he finds out it’s up to him — with the help of outgoing CTU head Rebecca Ingram (Homeland alum Miranda Otto) — to stop a series of terrorist attacks that would result in the deaths of thousands of Americans.
The 24 reboot, which is set in Washington, D.C., three years after the events of 24: Live Another Day, will premiere on Fox after Super Bowl LI on Feb. 5.
The rest of the stellar cast includes Jimmy Smits as John Donovan, Ingram’s husband and a senator now running for president; Teddy Sears as new CTU honcho Keith Mullins; Dan Bucatinsky as CTU communications expert Andy Shalowitz (aka the reboot’s Chloe); Anna Diop as Nicole, Eric’s wife; The Night Of alum Ashley Thomas as Eric’s brother, Isaac; and, returning from the original series, fan favorite Carlos Bernard as Jack Bauer’s friend and associate turned villain Tony Almeida.
