The show is inspired by Andy Lane’s “Young Sherlock Holmes” novels. The official description for the series states, “At age 19, Sherlock Holmes is disgraced, raw, unfiltered, and unformed, when he finds himself caught up in a murder mystery at Oxford University which threatens his freedom. Diving into his first-ever case with a wild lack of discipline, Sherlock manages to unravel a globe-trotting conspiracy that will change his life forever.”
Zine has been cast as Princess Gulun Shou’an, described as a “Chinese Princess, Oxford University Scholar and skilled martial-artist.”
Zine recently starred in the big budget Netflix series “3 Body Problem” from David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo, which itself was based on the Chinese novel series “Remembrance of Earth’s Past.” Her work in the show earned Zine the breakthrough performance in a drama award at the inaugural Gotham TV Awards.
Zine is repped by Artist International Group, Goodman Genow, and Shafran PR.
Matthew Parkhill is the writer, executive producer, and showrunner on “Young Sherlock.” Guy Ritchie is directing and executive producing. Simon Kelton, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Maxwell, Dhana Gilbert, Colin Wilson, and Marc Resteghini also executive produce, with Harriet Creelman co-executive producing. Motive Pictures is handling physical production.
