1. Bret Michaels
We obviously had to kick off this list with rockstar legend Bret Michaels, who just recently adopted a dog named after him!
"I could not have been more touched and more honored to adopt Bret Michaels, the husky," the singer said in 2023. "I could not work fast enough to adopt this husky and extend the awesome quality of little Bret Jr.'s life."

2. Dennis Quaid: Celebrity Pet Dads
Another famous celebrity pet dad who adopted a furry friend with the same name as them? Dennis Quaid! Thats right, in 2020 the actor brought home a black cat named Dennis Quaid, and the two have been living happily ever after ever since.
"It was really off the wall, but I just couldn't resist. I had to," Quaid, the human, said. "I'm out to save all the Dennis Quaids of the world."
He also encouraged others to do the same if they're able, writing in an Instagram post, "If anyone out there has the slightest interest in adopting, I’d encourage you to check out your local shelters."
Feline Dennis Quaid even has an Instagram account, where he shares all of his recent journeys.
3. Hugh Jackman
When he's not fighting bad guys as Wolverine, Hugh Jackman can often be found out and about with his dog Allegra.
Jackson also had another dog named Dali, but she passed away in 2022, with the actor saying "It’s a very sad day for our family. Dali, our beloved Frenchie, passed away last night. He would’ve been 12 next month … which I’m told is a long life for this breed. I always, always called him the ROCKSTAR. Because he was! He marched to the beat of his own drum, was beloved by the whole world, and boy did he have a good life. We will miss him but know he’s howling in heaven, ruling the roost and enjoying the all you can eat buffet. RIP Dali Rockstar Jackman. We love you!"
Allegra is still alive, and Jackman is frequently seen walking her around Central Park.
5. Justin Theroux: Celebrity Pet Dads
Not only is Justin Theroux an amazing dad dog, he helps people around the world find their furry friends as well. On his Instagram, the actor is often seen posting about which animal shelters to look at, and has even visited a few of them from time to time.
In 2023, on the five year anniversary of his adoption of dog Kuma, Theroux wrote, "If you are considering getting a dog, please visit your local shelter. There are TENS OF THOUSANDS of Kumas out there that would love to make your life so much better."
Kuma is still with us, and Theroux frequently posts about their outings on his Instagram.
5. Chris Evans
That's right, Captain America himself is a dog lover. In 2021, Chris Evans adopted a dog named Dodger, writing, "I was filming a movie in Savannah and the scene took place at a shelter. I had no intention of rescuing a dog that day, but the minute I saw him I knew he was coming home with me."
"There are so many loving animals at shelters who are in desperate need of a home. Visit a shelter and leave with a best friend," he added.

Not only does The Terminator have three dogs named Cherry, Dutch, and Schnitzel, but he also has a mini-donkey named Lulu, a pig named Schnelly and a mini-pony named Whiskey.
This kind of joy was not something he expected at this stage of his life, though maybe he should have. "I just love animals," Schwarzenegger said during An Evening with Arnold Schwarzenegger, marking the launch of his new book, Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life. "I grew up on a farm in Austria and I always enjoyed animals,”
Schwarzenegger regularly shares pictures and videos of his animals on his Instagram, with the most recent one being of him and Schnelly the pig.
