Aug. 3—Bargains galore
There will be bargains galore this weekend in Irwin.
A flea market is planned for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday at The Lamp Theatre, 222 Main St.

—Irwin Business and Professional Association also will host a summer craft and vendor show with sidewalk flea market in the downtown area from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Food trucks will be on site.

Hard rain's gonna fall
Pittsburgh's own Bill Toms and Hard Rain are slated for this week's SummerSounds concert, beginning at 7 p.m. Friday in Saint Clair Park in downtown Greensburg.
Toms played lead guitar in the 1987-2006 iteration of Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers, later performing as an acoustic singer/songwriter.
Toms and Hard Rain have played their Americana rock/folk/blues on nine albums and on dates around the United States, Canada and Europe.
Shane Turner will play pre-show music beginning at 6:15 p.m. Food will be available.

Butterflies flutter by
Greensburg Garden Center will host two sessions of its annual monarch butterfly release, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday in the Lefevre Butterfly Garden behind the Greensburg Garden & Civic Center, 951 Old Salem Road.
The release will feature a program by Rick Mikula, known as The Butterfly Guy. An award-winning author, Mikula has been presenting humorous, off-beat programs on butterflies for more than 35 years. He was a pioneer of releasing butterflies at weddings.
Also planned are educational displays and activities, photo opportunities, face-painting and sale of butterfly items and a limited number of milkweed plants. Hot dogs, ice cream, cookies and lemonade will be available.

Bang a drum
Practice Makes Perfect Music Studio will lead a free music jam session from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at The Westmoreland Museum of American Art, 221 N. Main St. Participants of all ages are invited and no experience is necessary.
Music-makers may bring their own instruments or use one of the hand drums provided.

Strike up the band
The Penn Trafford Community Band is scheduled to perform at 7 p.m. Sunday in the weekly summer concert series on the Ligonier Diamond.
Conducted by Doug Skoretz, the band will play an all-ages program of familiar patriotic numbers, marches, television and movie themes, big-band favorites and inspirational songs.
The group will set up in front of Ligonier Town Hall, with the audience welcome to set up chairs in Diamond Park and on the street facing the building. In case of inclement weather, the concert will move into the town hall.
