50 Cent Addresses Backlash From Photo With Republican Congresswoman Lauren Boebert
50 Cent took a trip to Washington, D.C. this week and shared a photo with controversial Congresswoman Lauren Boebert. Fans flooded his comments with critique and disappointment for the linkup, forcing the 48-year-old rapper to address their backlash.
“Wait, wait, guys I took pictures with everyone and all you seem to care about is Lauren,” he wrote in an Instagram post. “What did she do in a dark theater that hasn’t been done, my God!” His caption referred to the 37-year-old politician being removed from a theater while watching Beetlejuice: The Musical due to groping the person she was with and other seemingly sexual actions.
In true Fif fashion, he added: “Hey I don’t have chlamydia by the way. LOL.” For what it’s worth, the G-Unit leader wasn’t lying. He posted photos with Congressman Steve Scalise, Congressman Troy Carter, Congresswoman Nikema Williams, Speaker Of The House Mike Johnson, former Speaker Of The House Nancy Pelosi, and more.
Fans’ disappointment with 50 Cent for his photo with Congresswoman Boebert was two-pronged. Boebert, a Republican, has shared disappointing views on same-sex marriage, Muslims, and QAnon conspiracy theories. Secondly, the “In Da Club” rapper made light of meeting her and even seemed to be flirting.
“Lauren Boebert, Colorado Republican making the White House look good,” he wrote in the caption of their photo with a smirking emoji. In the picture, he has his arm around her waist leading many to believe he may have been interested in more than just discussing politics. “But why would you even take a picture with this embarrassment to Congress?” one fan asked in the comments. “Wow, 50. First time in my life that I feel embarrassed for you,” another user wrote.
Boebert addressed the meeting as well. “I was laughing, I was singing, having a fantastic time, was told to kinda settle it down a little bit, which I did, but then, my next slip up was taking a picture,” she said. “I was a little too eccentric […] I’m on the edge of a lot of things.”
50 Cent’s trip to Washington, D.C. was focused on advocacy for more Black ownership in the liquor industry. He was joined by civil rights attorney Ben Crump to discuss “the Black wealth agenda, the widening of the wealth gap and corporate America’s marginalization of Black-owned companies,” per a press release.
Crump is working alongside the Power executive producer in his legal battle against Beam Suntory. The Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ artist accused them of taking millions of dollars from his Sire Spirits brand via unpaid invoices. They attempted to mediate their differences last summer, but the battle is ongoing, as the Grammy winner has continually called them out over social media.
50 Cent also hasn’t been shy about calling out Diddy over social media throughout his lawsuits, homes being raided by Homeland Security, and footage surfacing of him assaulting Cassie. Recently, he sold his Diddy Do It? docuseries to Netflix after what was labeled a massive bidding war.
