By earning the title, Alyssa took home all of the following prizes: a $200,000 check, a year’s supply of cosmetics from Anastasia Beverly Hills, a crown and scepter Fierce Drag Jewels, and a spot in the “International Pavilion” at the “Drag Race Hall of Fame.” Say that five times fast!
Kitty, Kween, and Nehellenia all tied for the runner-up position at the end of Friday’s season finale. The other eight queens returned to walk the runway one last time in the theme of “Best Drag on Earth”: Switzerland’s Tessa Testicle, Sweden’s Vanity Vain, Canada’s Pythia, Mexico’s Gala Varo, France’s Soa de Muse, Philippines’ Eva Le Queen, Brazil’s Miranda Lebr?o, and Belgium’s Athena Likis.
The contestants’ last main challenge on the show was to create a TikTok-inspired dance video to “Dance Like the World is Watching,” and to compete in a solo lip sync to Lady Gaga‘s “Bad Romance.” By claiming victory, Alyssa won her third challenge of the season following “Global Talent Extravaganza” (premiere) and “There’s No Place Like Home” (episode 10).
After her crowning, Alyssa declared, “Always and forever, Alyssa Edwards, [tongue pop]!” She later stated in a confessional, “This has been a long time coming.” Indeed, Alyssa (real name Justin Dwayne Lee Johnson) has been a part of the “Drag Race” family since she first competed in Season 5, placing sixth. She later returned in “All Stars 2,” placing fifth. This year marked Alyssa’s 23rd year on the drag scene and the first time making it to a season finale.
