6 places to shop small on Small Business Saturday in the Des Moines metro area
The holidays are here and after dishes are passed around the dinner table and the leftovers are thrown in the fridge, thousands of shoppers across the Des Moines metro area will head out to purchase local products on Small Business Saturday. Here's a list of six stops with presents that are perfect for any person in your life to add to your list.
Vzz Vintage
Vzz Vintage, the millennial-friendly vintage shop in Downtown Des Moines, stocks its shelves with clothing for men and women in all sizes from the 1960s to 2000s, along with accessories such as jewelry, handbags and belts. Customers who purchase an item are entered to win a shop gift card plus plant-based Des Moines bakery Baked Kind is hosting a pop-up shop with holiday treats and pre-orders.

Little House on Main
The Bondurant-based bungalow, featuring Instagram-worthy white exteriors and chic wood trim, is bringing homegrown goods to buyers this Thanksgiving weekend. The store offers gifts like pillows, home dƩcor, and other handmade gifts that provide perfect stocking stuffers and presents under-the-tree alike. Proceeds from each store purchase are given back to causes across the state of Iowa.

Des Moines Mercantile
The general store in Des Moines' up-and-coming Highland Park/Oak Park neighborhood features everyday goods for metro area patrons. The shop will be serving customers with Hiland Bakery cookies and warm drinks and selling local holiday gift boxes filled with items from various local makers. A pop-up shop with small batch natural products company Locust Grove Farm Co. is also part of Small Business Saturday.

The Vinyl Studio
Buzzy social media favorite The Vinyl Studio, which offers on-trend clothing and accessories, houses its design and screen-printing studio in Valley Junction with items handcrafted by owner Laura Vandagriff Biggins. The studio is gifting a free red beanie, with āMerryā lettering, to the first 50 shoppers who spend $75.
