The 7 Best Watches of the Week, From Jared Leto’s Jacob & Co. to Tom Brady’s Rolex

Fanatics Fest turned out to be full of watch fanatics. Four high-profile horophiles showed off incredible timepieces at the N.Y.C. event over the weekend. Jay-Z flexed the newly released Jacob & Co. Bugatti Tourbillon, fellow musicians Travis Scott and DJ Khaled both flaunted a gem-encrusted Audemars Piguet Royal Oaks, while NFL great Tom Brady rocked a fresh new Rolex. YouTube star Jake Paul also attended a press conference at Fanatics Fest with a Richard Mille RM 11-03 on his wrist.

That wasn’t the only notable wrist candy we noticed this week, though. Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto sported a dazzling Jacob & Co. Astronomia Tourbillion as he walked the streets of the East Village, while Beetlejuice Beetlejuice star Jenna Ortega wore a glitzy Hublot Classic Fusion on the Today show.

Jay-Z might have 99 problems, but scoring coveted Jacob & Co. wrist candy ain’t one. The 24-time Grammy-winning musician, who has an impressive collection of Pateks, Audemars Piguets, and Richard Milles, flexed the newly released Bugatti Tourbillon at his 40/40 Club pop-up in N.Y.C. over the weekend. Hov is the first person to receive the limited edition, according to the Swiss watchmaker. Unveiled in late June, the tourbillion was created in honor of the Bugatti Tourbillon and takes design cues from the sleek, 1,800 hp hypercar. The 52 mm black titanium case features a grille, two cooling inlets, and a pair of window-like sapphire openings. The retrograde hour and minute indicators resemble the tachometer and speedometer, while the winding crown mirrors the control knobs. Inside lies a functioning V-16 engine, with a mechanical automaton that moves the cylinders up and down upon activation. The Bugatti for the wrist is limited to 150 examples and costs $340,000.

Jared Leto has one helluva daily driver. The Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman was recently spotted wearing his new Jacob & Co. Astronomia Skulls on the street of the East Village. The dazzling timepiece showcases a 50 mm white-gold case, a distinctive domed sapphire, and an intricate dial adorned with several skulls with rubies for eyes. The skull motif was prominently featured on the band’s A Beautiful Lie album and the red accents on the cover art are reflected in the rubies. “The distinctive complication, which is Jared’s first-ever watch, features an intricate design that aligns perfectly with the edgy and avant-garde spirit that he is known for,” the Swiss watchmaker said in a statement. The piece is priced at $900,000.

Travis Scott just can’t get enough of Audemars Piguet. The rapper, who has designed his own AP, showed off another blingy Royal Oak at a Make a Wish event during Fanatics Fest on Saturday. Crafted from 18-carat white gold, the special edition is fully set with 994 brilliant-cut diamonds totaling some 9.74 carats. Some 86 stones adorn the 41 mm case, 32 sit on the bezel, and 876 lay on the bracelet. The sapphire dial adds even more pizzaz, providing a clear view of the recently discontinued openworked

. The dial is also equipped with indicators for the week, day, date, month, astronomical moon, and leap year. The price of this bling is available upon request, of course.

Tom Brady: Rolex GMT-Master II

NFL GOAT Tom Brady wore one of the greatest new Rolexes to Fanatics Fest over the weekend. Launched at Watches & Wonders earlier this year, the GMT-Master II “Bruce Wayne” (Ref. 126710GRNR) features a fresh “gris noir” or “gray black” colorway. (That explains the addition of “GRNR” to the reference number and the nod to Batman.) The newcomer showcases all the classic hallmarks of the model, such as a large 40 mm Oystersteel case, a black dial with a date window at three o’clock, and an Oyster bracelet. The distinguishing element is the rotating Cerachrom bezel, which uses gray and black inserts to differentiate between daytime and nighttime hours. Powered by an in-house automatic movement (Caliber 3285), the watch offers 70 hours of power reserve. It will set you back $17,150, but good luck getting one at retail.

DJ Khaled: Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Rainbow

DJ Khaled wore a suitably bright outfit on the blue carpet at Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club pop-up during Fanatics Fest. The Grammy-winning music mogul paired a colorful Louis Vuitton tracksuit with an eye-catching Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Rainbow. Released in July 2021, the watch features an intricate openworked dial and an octagonal bezel set with 32 baguette-cut gems. The mix of tsavorites, emeralds, topazes, tanzanites, amethysts, and colored sapphires creates a distinctive rainbow design. Khaled’s reference features a 41 mm case finished in yellow gold, but the model is also available in white or pink gold and in 37 mm sizing. The 41 mm edition was originally priced at $118,500 but could run you as much as half a mil now.

Jake Paul: Richard Mille RM 11-03

Jake Paul wore a knockout Richard Mille at the press conference for his upcoming fight against Mike Tyson. The RM 11-03 “Ivory,” a.k.a. the “Last White Edition,” features a 50 mm case made from white ceramic and titanium that renders the watch exceedingly rare. Only 33 examples were released, in fact. The skeletonized dial, which is surrounded by an ivory ring, shows three chronograph counters and an oversized date display. It also spotlights all the complex mechanics within. You can expect to pay in the ballpark of $550,000 for this all-white rarity.

Jenna Ortega: Hublot Classic Fusion Orlinski Pave

Jenna Ortega busted out a blingy Hublot on the press tour for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. The American actress, who plays Astrid Deetz in Tim Burton’s hotly anticipated sequel, wore a Hublot Classic Fusion Orlinski Pave on the Today show. Inspired by French artist Richard Orlinski’s sculptures, the 40 mm titanium case and bracelet feature many mirror-polished facets that play with the light. The watch is also adorned with 3.79 carats of brilliant-cut white diamonds that add even more glitz and glamor. The bezel is set with 54 stones and a bracelet is set with 486. Blingy, indeed.
