8 St. Patrick’s Day TV episodes to press your luck: ‘It’s Always Sunny,’ ‘The Office’ and more
Find the pot of gold at the end of the TV rainbow this March 17.
St. Patrick’s Day might not be considered a major holiday by many, but for the die-hards, it’s the one time of year their luck doesn’t run out.
It might not have as many television episodes in its honor like Christmas and Valentine’s Day, but a mini marathon can be had — possibly as a pregame activity — with these shows.
‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ Season 11, Episode 8, ‘Charlie Catches a Leprechaun’
For a show all about drinking, it would be criminal not to have a St. Patrick’s Day episode. To capitalize on the holiday, Dennis Reynolds (Glenn Howerton) comes up with the idea to take Paddy’s on the road in the form of a wagon — leading Mac (Rob McElhenney), Charlie Kelly (Charlie Kelly), Frank Reynolds (Danny DeVito) and Dee Reynolds (Kaitlin Olson) to quickly lose interest.
While Dennis brings his vision to life, Charlie chooses drinking paints over pints and enlists Mac to help him see if his efforts to catch a leprechaun proved fruitful. His glue traps seemingly work, even though the man they captured won’t admit to being one. After more misadventure, Mac discovers their prisoner is a pickpocket and hits Paddy’s every March 17.

‘The Office’ Season 6, Episode 19, ‘St. Patrick’s Day’
Luck wasn’t on Michael Scott’s (Steve Carell) side when CEO Jo Bennett (Kathy Bates) sets up camp inside the office’s conference room on St. Paddy’s Day. First, she promotes Daryl Philbin (Craig Robinson), then she rejects Michael’s offer for him to stay at her Florida home.
On top of those grievances, Jo forces everyone to stay late because she’s a workaholic. The employees try to make multiple breaks for the bar, but it’s not until Michael stands up for the staff that they join traveling salesman Todd Packer (David Koechner) for some green beer.

‘Bob’s Burgers’ Season 10, Episode 16, ‘Flat-Top O’ the Morning to Ya’
Linda Belcher (John Roberts) is full of Irish spirit (not to be confused with spirits) and bets it all on green while she’s in charge of the restaurant. Beyond green beer, she and Teddy (Larry Murphy) dye the ketchup, fries and burger meat. When no one wants to eat green meat, she serves up sliders at the St. Patrick’s Day street fair and bring the crowd back to the restaurant.
In another part of town, Bob (H. Jon Benjamin) tries to get lucky at a liquidation auction. He and the kids get roped into helping the previous owner steal the flat-top grill. They get caught red-handed, which leads to Bob worrying about his establishment failing. He’s buoyed when the gang gets back to the burger joint and it’s full of hungry patrons.

‘2 Broke Girls’ Season 3, Episode 19, ‘And the Kilt Trip’
You can take a girl out of the Plaza Hotel, but you can’t take the Plaza Hotel out of the girl — at least in Caroline Channing’s (Beth Behrs) case. She longs for the traditions of the 100-year-old institution but goes along with Max Black (Kat Dennings) and the diner crew for their version of a St. Patrick’s Day parade.
Enter Blarney Bill (Brian Doyle-Murray). Caroline’s stuck talking to the barfly, who winds up kissing her without her permission. Unsurprisingly, it doesn’t turn out to be the pot of gold she’s looking for.

‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’ Season 3, Episode 17, ‘Salem, the Boy’
Teenage witch Sabrina Spellman (Melissa Joan Hart) is visited by Roland (Phil Fondacaro) the leprechaun, who offers her three wishes. Salem (Nick Bakay) convinces Sabrina to use one of them to be a human again. He enters her classmate Gordie (Curtis Anderson) so she can keep an eye on him, but he has other plans.
Meanwhile, Sabrina’s bestie Valerie Birkhead (Lindsay Sloane) pursues Gordie as a date for the St. Patrick’s Day dance — and Salem manages to juggle flirting with taking over Mr. Kraft’s (Martin Mull) election for principal. His antics cause Sabrina to get in trouble and him to reclaim his feline form.
‘30 Rock’ Season 6, Episode 12, ‘St. Patrick’s Day’
While Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) swears off the holiday, Jenna Maroney (Jane Krakowski) and Tracy Jordan (Tracy Morgan) host the network’s parade coverage. Tracy’s luck turns when his rivalry with Jenna is ignited by an unknowing page, who accidentally gives a cue that the latter is a bigger star. The page’s attempts to fix the situation only make it worse, causing them to be replaced by Al Roker mid-broadcast.
Elsewhere, Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) gets wrapped up in a fantasy board game with the writers. After losing most of his assets, he heads to St. Patrick’s Cathedral for some soul-searching but comes up with a way to win the game thanks to divine intervention.
‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ Season 9, Episode 19, ‘The Leprechaun’
Kelly Taylor (Jennie Garth) hopes to garner a pot of gold for the boutique, but her partner Donna Martin (Tori Spelling) objects. Kelly ignores her wishes and hires a publicist — and Gina Kincaid (Vanessa Marcil) adds fuel to the fire just for kicks.
To promote his newspaper, Steve Sanders (Ian Ziering) takes advantage of the holiday and hires a man to dress up as a leprechaun. When he promises whoever catches him a pot of gold and then doesn’t follow through, the man files a lawsuit.
Noah Hunter (Vincent Young) gets lucky when someone makes on offer on the Peach Pit’s space, but it runs out when Dylan McKay (Luke Perry) swoops in and buys the building. Noah thinks he’s out, but Dylan keeps him on to run the after-hours club at the same location.

‘Superstore’ Season 5, Episode 18, ‘Playdate’
The store’s staff can’t seem focus on their planned St. Patrick’s Day activities because Amy Sosa (America Ferrera) brings her son, Parker, into work and it leads two of her co-workers to think Jonah Simms (Ben Feldman) might be his father — though she claims her ex-husband, Adam (Ryan Gaul), is the father.
Glenn Sturgis (Mark McKinney) asks his wife, Jerusha (Kerri Kenney), to come into the store to watch Parker along with their child, Rose. Jerusha makes Amy feel like an inferior mom and it escalates to the point that the two children compete in an obstacle course and tie for a loss.
