Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life) ending spoilers
At the end of Aadujeevitham, Najeeb finally found the road. Despite his helpless condition, no one stopped to give him a lift to the city. Suddenly, an Arab car owner stopped and offered Najeeb water, making him sit in his car. After reaching the city, the car owner let Najeeb out of the vehicle. Injured and disoriented, Najeeb roamed the town and collapsed in front of a hotel.
The hotel owner, moved by Najeeb’s condition, helped him extensively. He shaved Najeeb’s hair, called a doctor to bandage his wounds, and assisted him in getting the necessary papers to return to India. In the final scene, as Najeeb moves towards his flight, he reflects on his life, realizing that his life is the only thing he can give to his daughter and wife.
What task was Najib assigned in Saudi Arabia?
The Goat Life began with two Malayali immigrants, Najeeb Muhammed and Hakim, anxiously waiting at the Saudi Arabian airport for someone to meet them. They have traveled from their village, hoping to find better jobs in Saudi Arabia and eventually return home (India) with their earnings. Despite waiting all day, no one arrives to pick them up. Finally, an Arab man arrives and asks them to get inside his car. Najeeb and Hakim try to communicate with the Arab man, but they cannot understand each other’s language. Believing the Arab is from the company, they both get into the car.
Late that night, they reach a desert location, and the Arab man separates Najeeb and Hakim and keeps them at different places. By morning, Najeeb begins to realize that he might have come with the wrong person. The Arab man takes Najeeb to a farm where sheep, goats, and camels are kept. Najeeb, unable to speak Arabic, finds himself isolated and unable to communicate effectively with his captor.
Najeeb’s life quickly turns into a relentless cycle of herding sheep and goats from dawn until dusk. Days blur into weeks, and his condition worsens. One day, looking at his reflection in a mirror, Najeeb realizes how dire his situation has become and decides to escape. However, the Arab man catches him and gives him a deep wound on his leg, making escape impossible. Now, Najeeb could not even think of running away because the Arab man keeps a constant watch on him. This leaves Najeeb helpless and trapped in his harsh reality.
Was Najeeb able to return to India?
After a few days, while herding goats, Najeeb hears a singing sound and follows it, leading him to reunite with Hakim. Hakim introduces Najeeb to his African friend, Ibrahim Kadri, who has devised a plan to escape their life of slavery. They decide to make their move on the day the farm owner is away attending a wedding.
On the planned day, with the owner gone, the trio manages to escape and begin their struggling journey towards the road. As days pass, their health deteriorates severely due to the lack of food and water. At one point, Najeeb and Hakim begin to hallucinate, imagining water in the vast desert. Their hopes of finding the road start to wane. Tragically, Hakim dies after consuming sand in a desperate attempt to alleviate his thirst and hunger. A sudden sandstorm buries Hakim’s body, leaving Najeeb and Ibrahim to continue alone.
Despite their worsening conditions, they keep moving on. One night, Kadri suddenly vanishes, leaving Najeeb to fend for himself. Summoning all his remaining strength, Najeeb finally reaches a road and is picked up by a local who gives him a ride to the city. In the city, a resident provides Najeeb with the care he desperately needs, including medical attention and assistance in securing the necessary papers to return to India.
Najeeb spends a few months in jail while awaiting deportation, but eventually, the day comes for him to board the flight back home. As he moves towards the plane, Najeeb reflects on his harrowing journey and the life he now has to rebuild for his daughter and wife. The dramatic and emotional conclusion of Aadujeevitham leaves the audience with a profound sense of relief and hope.
