ABC sets 'Inhumans' TV premiere date

Marvel’s newest superhero show will start differently than any that have come before. The first two episodes of ABC’s Inhumans, the new show focusing on the royal family of the Marvel Universe, will first be shown in IMAX theaters worldwide for a two-week period starting Sep. 1. After that, the show will migrate to the small screen with a two-hour premiere on Friday, Sep. 29 at 8 p.m. Then it’ll settle into the 9 p.m. Friday slot, following Once Upon a Time.

The superpowered race of Inhumans were first introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe on ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and now Inhumans will focus on the leaders of that race, the Inhuman Royal Family. At the top of the hierarchy is the Inhuman King, Black Bolt (Anson Mount), whose vocal powers are so fearsome he mostly remains silent so as not to cause unnecessary damage. Unfortunately, that leaves an opportunity for the king’s wily brother Maximus (Iwan Rheon) to sow discontent and division among the Royal Family. Rounding out the cast is Serinda Swan as Medusa, Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, Ken Leung as Karnak, Ellen Woglom as an undisclosed character, Sonya Balmores as Auran, and Mike Moh as Triton.

Inhumans was originally slated as a film for summer 2019, but now the story will straddle both sides of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The ABC premiere date was accompanied by the reveal of a new poster, seen above.
