AC/DC are set to embark on their first tour in eight years later this month, and the legendary rock band has unveiled a photo of its revamped lineup rehearsing for the outing (see below).
The current incarnation of the band includes classic members Brian Johnson (vocals) and Angus Young (lead guitar) alongside rhythm guitarist Stevie Young, drummer Matt Laug, and bassist Chris Chaney.
Stevie, the nephew of Angus, has been with the band for several years, filling in when Malcolm Young was diagnosed with dementia and remaining with the band following Malcolm’s passing in 2017.
Laug (Alanis Morissette, Alice Cooper, Slash’s Snakepit) made his debut with AC/DC at their comeback gig at the Power Trip festival in Indio, California, this past October after it was revealed that classic drummer Phil Rudd would not be performing with the band.
Chaney, best known for his long tenure in Jane’s Addiction, recently joined AC/DC to fill the shoes of Cliff Williams, who played the Power Trip fest but has retired from touring.
The upcoming UK/European run, which kicks off May 17th in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, will also mark the first tour with Johnson since he had to exit the group in early 2016 due to hearing issues. He was replaced by Axl Rose for the remainder of that year’s tour, which marked their last outing until now.
In between the last tour and this one, AC/DC released the album Power Up in 2020. That LP saw the return of Johnson and Rudd to the lineup, and earned high praise from critics and fans alike. In fact, it landed at No. 5 on Heavy Consequence‘s list of the Top 30 Metal & Hard Rock Albums of 2020.
