Activist Artists Management Signs ‘Twenties’ Breakout Jojo T. Gibbs
EXCLUSIVE: Activist Artists Management has signed Jojo T. Gibbs, the actress, writer, producer and stand-up comedian best known for her starring role in Lena Waithe’s semi-autobiographical BET series Twenties, for representation. Bernie Cahill and Grant Pennel will run point for the client.
Airing for two seasons from 2020-2021, Twenties was a comedy-drama following the lives of three young women in their twenties as they navigated the challenges of adulthood in Los Angeles. Starring opposite Christina Elmore, Gabrielle Graham, Sophina Brown and Big Sean, Gibbs portrayed Hattie, a queer Black woman based on Waithe, who aspires to be a screenwriter.

Most recently seen in Alex Garland’s buzzy A24 pic Civil War, Gibbs’ other recent credits on the film side include Luc Besson’s Dogman opposite Caleb Landry Jones, Celine Song’s A24 Best Picture nominee Past Lives, Hulu’s Mimi Cave thriller Fresh, Amazon’s Something from Tiffany’s, and Cora Bora, an indie that opens in theaters this month.
Recently shooting her first one-hour stand-up special, which is slated for release later this year, Gibbs will also soon be seen starring in the action-thriller Dirty Angels from director Martin Campbell.
