Actor Jon Hamm gets coffee in Westchester
If you were in Rye April 29 and needed a caffeine fix, you might have also had a celebrity sighting.
Jon Hamm, the actor best known for his role as Don Draper in the period drama series "Mad Men," was at Sunshine Coffee Roasters in Rye getting coffee.
Hamm, who can also be seen on Apple TV's "The Morning Show" and the FX crime anthology series "Fargo," has been in the area, along with Actress Amanda Peet (who also had coffee at the shop) filming the Apple TV show "Your Friends and Neighbors." The new drama series centers on a recently divorced hedge fund manager (Hamm) who loses his job and resorts to burglary, targeting his wealthy Westchester neighbors. The show also stars Olivia Munn.
Entertainment: Tarrytown resident, stand-in for Tom Selleck on 'Blue Bloods,' reminisces on final season
According to Sunshine Roasters Co-Owner Mike Contopoulos, not only was Sunshine featured in the shoot but the show staff took enough sleeves for the season so that when the characters are drinking coffee on the show it should be from a Sunshine cup.
Sunshine, which is also owned by Mariela Iacono and John Minotti, has long had a location in Larchmont. Their new Rye spot opened in February and is part of a trend in new coffeeshop openings (see story here).
