From Adam and Leighton to Nelly and Ashanti: 12 Celeb Couples Who Will Give You Such '90s and '00s Feels
From Leighton Meester and Adam Brody to Nelly and Ashanti, these couples are so '90s and '00s in the best possible way
Years after many of these stars captured our hearts on the radio or on the screen, they are happy and in love with fellow icons of the 1990s and 2000s.
From Seth Cohen and Blair Waldorf living happily ever after to Nelly and Ashanti gearing up to welcome their first child together — 20 years after first meeting! — here are some current couples who will take you back in the best way possible.
Nelly & Ashanti
From first meeting at a 2003 Grammy Awards press conference to tying the knot 20 years later, Nelly and Ashanti's love story has strong roots in the early aughts. While the pair broke up in between for some time, the two reunited in September 2023 and in April 2024 Ashanti announced that the musicians were expecting their first child together.
Though at the time of her pregnancy announcement, Ashanti referred to Nelly as her "fiancé," in June 2024, it was confirmed that the pair had actually quietly wed in December 2023.
Sarah Michelle Gellar & Freddie Prinze Jr.
It doesn't get more '90s than this. Around the time her tenure as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and just before he landed the lead role in She's All That, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. met on the set of the 1997 horror film I Know What You Did Last Summer.
The pair didn't go on their first date until 2000, and by April 2001 the Scooby-Doo costars were engaged. They are now married and the parents of two, a daughter, Charlotte Grace Prinze, born in 2009 and a son, Rocky James Prinze, born in 2012.
Brenda Song & Macaulay Culkin
Brenda Song and Macaulay Culkin were both '90s/2000s child stars in their own rights — with Culkin becoming a household name in Home Alone and Song a Disney Channel star — when they met on set in 2017.
The two welcomed a son together in 2021 and got engaged less than a year later. In 2023, Culkin's brother Kieran confirmed that his brother and Song had quietly welcomed their second child.
Rozonda 'Chilli' Thomas & Matthew Lawrence
While these two both got their big breaks in the '90s — Chilli as part of Grammy-winning R&B/hip-hop group TLC and Mathew as part of his own acting trio, the Lawrence brothers — it wasn't until decades later that they would get together and go Instagram official as a couple.
Leighton Meester & Adam Brody
After both starring in their respective 2000s teen dramas — Leighton Meester as Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl from 2007 to 2012 and Adam Brody as Seth Cohen on The O.C. from 2003 to 2007 — these beloved actors were connected and later began dating.
"I was on The O.C., and that was coming to an end, and Gossip Girl was starting. Josh Schwartz produced both shows," Brody explained in 2021. "The first time we met, that whole cast was eating at Canter's [in Los Angeles], and I lived at Canter's for, like, my entire 20s. I was leaving, and he introduced all of us and then [I] bumped into her, like, two or three times over the next couple of years."
"Then we did this movie together, The Oranges. I was seeing someone at the time," he continued. "So we met kind of through mutual work friends off and on. We didn't get together until about a year after that movie, when I was single."
The two were engaged in 2013 and in February 2014, they tied the knot. Now the couple has two young children, a boy and a girl.
Jesse Plemons & Kristen Dunst
How cute are these two? The pair — whose careers both took off in the '90s and 2000s with Kirsten Dunst's role in 1994's Interview with the Vampire and Jesse Plemons' role as Landry Clarke in Friday Night Lights in 2006 — first met on the set of Fargo in 2015. The two sparked romance rumors the following year before getting engaged in 2017. In 2018, they became parents for the first time with the arrival of their son Ennis Howard and later grew to a family of four with the addition of their second son, James Robert.
In July 2022, the couple quietly got married near Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
Sarah Jessica Parker & Matthew Broderick
And so Carrie Bradshaw and Ferris Bueller lived happily ever after!
While Matthew Broderick's turn as the famous school-skipper came a few years before the 1990s, his star power permeated into the next decade and beyond with roles in films like The Cable Guy, Inspector Gadget and as the voice of Simba in The Lion King films. The power couple, who met in 1991 through Sarah Jessica Parker's brothers Pippin and Toby, tied the knot in 1997 in New York City. In 2002, the two became parents when they welcomed their son, James Wilke, and again in 2009 when they welcomed twin daughters Marion and Tabitha via surrogate.
David & Victoria Beckham
These two are the epitome of the 1990s, from David Beckham's epic soccer career that kicked off in that decade to Victoria Beckham's debut with the Spice Girls in 1994. The power couple first met in 1997 at a football match and had their first date that same year. By January 1998 the pair was engaged and later that year they welcomed their first child, son Brooklyn.
In 1999, the superstars tied the knot at Luttrellstown Castle outside Dublin with a star-studded guest list that included Victoria's Spice Girls bandmates, David's teammates, Elton John and George Michael.
Their family has continued to grow over the years with the addition of Romeo James in 2002, Cruz David in 2005 and Harper Seven in 2011.
Alexa PenaVega & Carlos PenaVega
There are few movies more early-aughts nostalgic than 2001's Spy Kids starring Alexa PenaVega (née Vega) alongside Daryl Sabara (the two would go on to appear in three more Spy Kids films over the next decade). Amid the Spy Kids saga, Vega's future husband, Carlos PenaVega (né Pena) was kicking off his tenure as part of Big Time Rush — a boyband and TV show of the same name that first premiered on Nickelodeon in 2009.
Alexa and Carlos wed — and merged their last names — in 2014 and are now parents to children Ocean King, Kingston James, and Rio Rey. In April, the couple shared that their fourth child, a daughter named Indy, was stillborn.
Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos
For Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, their love story starts with All My Children. While Ripa had already been on the long-running series, the two first met when Consuelos was auditioning to be her love interest in 1995. He was cast in the part and the two would begin dating shortly after.
The stars eloped the following year in Las Vegas and in 1997 welcomed their first son, Michael Joseph. In 2001, they welcomed daughter, Lola Grace before growing to a family of five with the addition of Joaquin Antonio.
Nick & Vanessa Lachey
For this nostalgic couple, their first time meeting couldn't be more fitting: the set of MTV's TRL in the 2000s. Vanessa Minnillo had been a veejay and Nick Lachey, of course, was a member of 98 Degrees and was starring on MTV's Newlyweds with his then-wife Jessica Simpson.
"I wouldn't necessarily say TRL brought us together, but that was definitely part of our time together — me being a musician and her being on-air talent," Nick told Billboard in 2017. "I saw her multiple times throughout the years when she was on TRL."
Following Nick and Jessica's split in 2005, Vanessa appeared in Nick's music video in 2006 which marked "the beginning of our relationship," Vanessa shared years later.
Nick proposed in 2010 and in 2011 they tied the knot. The pair welcomed their first child, Camden John Lachey, in 2011, their second, Brooklyn Elisabeth Lachey, in 2015 and third, Phoenix Robert Lachey, in 2016.
Justin Timberlake & Jessica Biel
It's hard to think of Justin Timberlake without thinking of his time in '90s boyband *NSYNC, and Jessica Biel had her own big break in the '90s when she landed the role of Mary Camden on 7th Heaven in 1996. It wasn't until 2007, though, that these stars began dating and while they split up in March 2011, they reunited a few months later and were engaged by the end of the year.
The two are now the parents to sons Silas and Phineas.
