A New Adaptation Of Beloved Classic 'Little Women' Is Being Filmed In Franklin, Tennessee Right Now
This new take on the story of the March sisters is getting a Christmas twist.
It’s Christmas in July in Franklin, Tennessee, because Great American Family is filming a soon-to-be holiday classic—a retelling of Little Women set in the South.
The channel just announced they are working on a Christmas movie called A Little Women’s Christmas, which they describe as “a contemporary retelling of the beloved classic novel” written by Louisa May Alcott.
While details are still sparse, we do know that it will star Trevor Donovan, Jen Lilley, Laura Osnes, Jesse Hutch, Jillian Murray, Julia Reilly, and the one and only Gladys Knight.
We also know that the film is reportedly taking place not in Massachusetts like in the original. Instead, in this version, sisters Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy March will be living in a small Tennessee town and getting ready to celebrate Christmas.
“A Little Women’s Christmas is a new Christmas classic in the making, with an incredible ensemble cast and an adaptation of an original story that is one of the best I have read,” Bill Abbott, president and CEO of Great American Media, said in a press release. “Louisa May Alcott was intentional about focusing on the culture of young women, their hopes, ambitions, and dreams, and it remains one of the most widely read and beloved stories ever written.”
While the film is still in the works, there are a few sneak peeks at the action being shared online by the production company.
If for some reason the idea of Little Women set in the South isn't quite enough to get you to tune in, fans can also expect a performance by the legendary Gladys Knight who will sing a new original Christmas song called “Joy.”
We just have one question: Is it Christmas yet?
