Adopted during the filming of 'Twisters,' Glen Powell's dog Brisket is 'an Oklahoma boy'
"Twisters" star Glen Powell is a proud Texan, but his dog Brisket is an "Oklahoma boy" who almost got a distinctly Sooner State name.
"I almost named Brisket 'Enid,' because when I was in the town of Enid is where I really felt like I wanted to be a dog dad," Powell told The Oklahoman Monday night at the Oklahoma City premiere of "Twisters."
"He's really an Oklahoma boy at the end of the day."
Although Brisket stole the show at the July 11 "Twisters" premiere in Los Angeles, Powell's precious pup was missing in action at Monday night's OKC invitation-only event.
Still, Powell was joined by his "Twisters" co-stars Daisy Edgar-Jones and Anthony Ramos, director Lee Isaac Chung, executive producer Ashley Jay Sandberg and storm consultant Kevin Kelleher on the red carpet at the special preview screening at Harkins Bricktown 16 theater in downtown OKC.
Along with the movie's stars, attendees included U.S. Sen. James Lankford, Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell, OKC Mayor David Holt, "Reservation Dogs" star Lane Factor and frontman Max Rainer of the acclaimed Tulsa-based folk-rock band Wilderado, who has a cameo in the film and a song on the soundtrack.

Here's what you need to know about Glen Powell's adorable dog Brisket
While shooting the long-awaited follow-up to the 1996 blockbuster "Twister" in Oklahoma last summer, Powell revealed on Instagram that he had adopted an adorable rescue pooch from the L.A.-based Labelle Foundation.
"Meet BRISKET — 1.5 pounds of raw power," the movie star posted. "I can’t wait to tackle all the adventures of life with this guy!"
Principal photography on "Twisters" got underway in Oklahoma City on May 8, 2023. With an estimated budget of $200 million, the production engaged with multiple communities statewide, including El Reno, Chickasha, Midwest City, Spencer, Kingfisher, Calumet, Hinton, Okarche, Burbank and Pawhuska, along with Fairview and Kremlin, which are near Enid.
Since the summer popcorn movie filmed in the Sooner State during storm season, Powell recently told USA Today that Brisket quickly experienced his first severe weather event.
"The first couple weeks I had him, we were on a set when a tornado touched down," he told USA Today.
Powell, who plays a thrill-seeking storm chaser in "Twisters," told The Oklahoman his dog's name is in no way an admission that he prefers Oklahoma brisket to Lone Star State barbecue.

"I didn't eat a lot of barbecue here," he said on the OKC red carpet. "I ate a lot of good steak, though."
"Twisters" is opening in theaters Friday, July 19.
