Aerosmith retires from touring after Steven Tyler’s vocal injury

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Aerosmith has announced it will be retiring from doing tours entirely after the recovery of lead singer Steven Tyler’s vocal injury did not go as planned.

The band announced via their Facebook page that “sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible” despite Tyler working with “the best medical team” to rehabilitate completely. As a result, the band decided to “retire from the touring stage.”

Their message included a disclaimer that people who have purchased tickets for the current tour they were planning would be “automatically” refunded through online service provider Ticketmaster. However, those who made a third-party resale purchase through venues like SeatGeek, StubHub and VividSeats would need to “reach out to your point of purchase for more details.”

There was a planned Aerosmith show in Portland at the Moda Center on Nov. 21. According to the Rose Quarter website, that show has now been canceled along with the rest of the tour. However, Ticketmaster or Trail Blazers Season Ticket Members customers would be “automatically” refunded.

Back in September, Aerosmith had initially postponed dates on their farewell tour. This was due to Tyler’s then-recent vocal cord injury that happened during a performance which “led to subsequent bleeding,” the singer said in an Instagram post at the time.

According to CBS News, the band known for “Dream On,” “Walk This Way” and “Sweet Emotion” then postponed a larger chunk of its “Peace Out” farewell tour for the fall of this year, stretching into 2025, before the most recent cancelation.
