AJ Lee (AJ Mendez): My Season-Long Contract With WOW Is Winding Down
AJ Lee, also known as AJ Mendez, says her contract with WOW – Women of Wrestling is winding down.
In 2021, Mendez was confirmed as an executive producer for the revival of WOW. She also worked as a commentator for the company.
In a post on her Instagram stories, Mendez stated that her season-long contract with WOW is winding down. She thanked the team for welcoming her and inspiring her. Mendez wrote that she would try to “come back and play sometime in the future.” She noted that she hoped fans would keep watching to support the stars of WOW.
In the post, Mendez wrote that it was non-union, and she used a hashtag to show her support for the Writers Guild of America, which is currently on strike.
Mendez can be seen on strike with the Writers Guild of America in another post on her Instagram account.
Stephen Amell Praises AJ Lee
Lee landed a role in the second season of Heels, a STARZ drama about wrestling. Ahead of the season premiere, Stephen Amell, one of the show’s main stars, commented on working with Lee. He spoke highly of the former WWE star.
“Well, it was nice having her around because Phil is so grouchy all of the time. [laughs] No, it was wonderful having AJ around,” Stephen Amell said. “We’ve done a nice job of dipping into the wrestling pool a little bit with AJ, with Phil, Mick [Foley]. It’s fun.
“Look, wrestlers want to be actors, and actors want to be wrestlers; it’s a tale as old as time. It’s nice when we get them to come on, and it’s nice that they acquitted themselves so well. All three people that I’ve mentioned, they’ve thrown together some really great performances.”
WrestleZone will provide more information about Lee’s future as it becomes available.
