AJR and Carly Rae Jepsen will headline Milwaukee's Summerfest 2024 on July 4
It's mid-November, and Summerfest already has more than half of its amphitheater headliner lineup solidified.
The Big Gig announced Thursday that indie-pop band AJR with "special guest" Carly Rae Jepsen will headline the American Family Insurance Amphitheater on July 4, kicking off the 2024 music festival's final weekend.
AJR had been named to headline the amphitheater at Summerfest this year — where they already had been scheduled as the opening act for Imagine Dragons — to fill the July 6 date vacated when Jimmy Buffett had to cancel because of illness. (Buffett, 76, died on Sept. 1.)
But then AJR had to cancel those Summerfest appearances, too, after the father of the brothers in the band — Adam, Jack and Ryan Metzger —became seriously ill. (On July 3, two days after pulling out of Summerfest, the bandmates announced that their father, Gary, had died.)
Tickets for the AJR/Carly Rae Jepsen concert go on sale at 9 a.m. Nov. 17. at Summerfest.com and Ticketmaster.com, and at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater box office. Info wasn't available on ticket prices, but they'll include admission to Summerfest on July 4.
With Fourth of July's headliner nailed down, Summerfest has announced five headliners for its main stage — possibly the earliest ever that the music festival has unveiled more than half of its top acts.
The other headliners already announced: Kane Brown, playing on June 20, the festival's opening night; Motley Crue, June 21; Tyler Childers, June 28; and Keith Urban, July 29
Summerfest 2024 runs June 20-22, June 27-29 and July 4-6.
