Al Pacino Talks Getting Texts From 16-Month-Old Son 'From Time to Time' and Forming Bond: 'Everything He Does Is Real'
Last year, legendary actor Al Pacino became a fourth-time father to his new son, Roman. While the 84-year-old is no longer with his son's mother, film producer Noor Alfallah , 30, Pacino's found an interesting way to keep in touch with the toddler.
While promoting his new memoir, Sonny Boy, during a BBC interview , Pacino shared that "part of the reasons" for writing a recollection of his life was for Roman to learn about him once the Scarface actor had passed on.
"I want to be around for this child. And I hope I am," he wrote. "I hope I stay healthy, and he knows who his dad is, of course."
Pacino added that while he co-parents with Alfallah, he's gotten comfortable with texting and video chatting their son, although the child hasn't even reached two years old yet. According to the National Library of Medicine , children, on average, get their first phone around 12.2 years old, while 40 percent of children are introduced to smartphones between 5 to 11.
"He does text me from time to time," Pacino said about his youngest child. "Everything he does is real. Everything he does is interesting to me. So, we talk. I play the harmonica with him on the other video thing, and we have made this kind of contact. So, it’s fun."
Pacino has three adult children, Julie, 34, with ex-girlfriend an Tarrant and twins Anton, and Olivia, 23, with actress Beverly D'Angelo. Back in August, Alfallah complimented the Academy Award winner for his parenting, calling Pacino "amazing" to TMZ .
