Al Roker is a first-time grandfather! Daughter Courtney welcomes baby girl
Al Roker has a new title: "Pop-Pop."
The "Today" show weathercaster and co-host, 68, became a first-time grandparent on Monday, his co-hosts announced during the third hour.
"Our own Al Roker has become a grandfather. Al's daughter Courtney and her husband Wes welcomed a baby girl yesterday," Craig Melvin revealed.
Courtney Roker Laga and Wes Laga named their daughter Sky Clara Laga, which has a special connection to Roker's longtime profession.
"That's really cute that his first grandchild's name is Sky," Sheinelle Jones said on Tuesday's show. Peter Alexander jokingly added, "Sky's first forecast, she'll be doing it on Monday."
The "Today" co-hosts also shared that Roker plans to have Sky call him "Pop-Pop."
Roker Laga and Laga married in June 2021.
Roker announced on "Today" in March that the news of being a grandfather "still hasn’t quite sunken in."
But, the co-host vowed that he and baby Sky would become two peas in a pod. "I'm going to be the best grandfather, because I'm going to do whatever I can to spoil this kid," he said.
Roker Laga announced her pregnancy on Instagram in March with a video montage of her and her husband seeing their baby's ultrasound. The video was set to a remix of Mariah Carey’s “Always Be My Baby."
"A new adventure is about to begin," she captioned the post.
