Al Roker Shares Sweet Tribute to His ‘Terrific’ Kids on Father’s Day
Al Roker has a special reason to celebrate Father’s Day this year.
The Today show host, who welcomed the arrival of his first grandchild last summer, celebrated the day for his first time as a grandfather on Sunday, June 16.
To mark the day, the weathercaster paid a special tribute to his three children and granddaughter with a sweet montage of family photos he shared on Instagram. He set the montage to a clip from Stevie Wonder’s “You Are the Sunshine of My Life,” a fitting pairing for his heartfelt message.
The photos included in Roker’s post featured some throwback snapshots from times when his adult children—Courtney, 37, Leila, 25, and Nick, 21—were younger, alongside more recent images of his granddaughter, Sky, who turns 1 next month. Pepper, the dog Roker and his family adopted 12 years ago who died just last week, also appeared in one photo in the montage.
Roker, 69, and his kids showed off big smiles in every photo as they wrapped their arms around each other while posing at their family home, visiting the beach and vacationing.
In his Instagram caption, Roker wrote that he “could not have been given any greater gift” than his three children and granddaughter. He also thanked his wife, ABC News journalist Deborah Roberts, “for nurturing and raising these terrific kids, who turned out so amazingly in spite of me.”
Several of the morning show co-host’s Instagram followers wished Roker a happy Father’s Day in the post’s comment section. Some also took a moment to gush over Roker’s “so beautiful” family after watching the montage.
“Such a great family!! No one deserves a better Father's Day than you Al!!! Enjoy it!!!” one fan wrote.
“Happy Father’s Day, Al! You have a beautiful family,” another fan said.
“Doesn’t get any better than that, Al….Happy Father’s Day ????????????????,” another Instagram user wrote.
