Alan Jackson Has Swept CMA Noms for Album, Single & Song of the Year 4 Times — More Than Anyone Else
Maren Morris received CMA Awards nominations for album, single and song of the year last week. It’s the second time she has swept nominations in all three of those categories in the same year, first achieving the feat three years ago. Morris is just the eighth artist — and only the second female artist — to sweep noms in all three categories more than once.
Alan Jackson has done this four times, more than anyone else. He was the first artist to do it in back-to-back years (1990-91), a feat that has been duplicated just once, by Toby Keith (2002-03).

In case you’re wondering, the first artists to receive noms in all three of these categories in one year were Merle Haggard and Conway Twitty in 1970. Remarkably, Haggard had two nominations in each of these categories that year, for “Okie From Muskogee” and the album of the same name and “Fightin’ Side of Me” and the album of the same name. Twitty was nominated for “Hello Darlin'” and the album of the same name.
The first female artist to receive noms in all three of these categories in one year was Donna Fargo in 1972. She was nominated for her breakthrough smash “The Happiest Girl in the Whole U.S.A.” and the album of the same name.
