Alan Rickman’s Dying Wish Was for You to Watch This Tortoise Eat a Strawberry
In what would turn out to be one of his last jobs, Alan Rickman lent his voice last month to a video for an organization called One Click Giving. The organization, founded by Oxford students, has a simple goal — create viral videos and donate the ad revenue to charity.
“We’re slowly gathering views as this tortoise munches away,” Rickman’s familiar bass grumbles in the video. “It works like this: The more views the video gets, the more advertising revenue YouTube will give us. We give that money to Save the Children and Refugee Council.”
When Alan Rickman passed away after a battle with cancer on Thursday, he had just one upcoming film credit: a voice role in Alice Through the Looking Glass, a sequel to 2010’s Alice in Wonderland.

Rickman’s deep bass was the most recognizable thing about him and it was that voice that made him J.K. Rowling’s first choice to play Severus Snape in the Harry Potter movies, which would become one of his most recognizable roles.
Go ahead and share the video. It’s what Alan Rickman would have wanted.
