If you’d like an example of the ideal Instagram boyfriend — er, fiancé — look no further than Alex Rodriguez, whose support of Jennifer Lopez is nothing short of aspirational. Even when there are professional photographers around, the former baseball player can’t help but snap a pic or two of the superstar — and honestly, who can blame him?
Rodriguez is keeping that energy going as the couple and their children shelter-in-place together at their Miami home during the coronavirus pandemic. He recently posted a video of Lopez goofing around during an afternoon rainstorm — the World of Dance star figured that she was soaked already, so she might as well jump in the pool. In a fitting video edit, Rodriguez added the Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes hit “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” — you know, the song made famous by Dirty Dancing — to the background video.

“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass,” Rodriguez wrote in the caption, utilizing the Pinterest-favorite quote by author Vivian Greene. “It’s about learning to dance in the rain (or jump in the pool).”

Rodriguez regularly posts supportive messages to each other on Instagram, and they’re pretty public with their love. Though they had to reschedule their wedding because of the pandemic, they’re more ready than ever to tie the knot, especially because they’ve each done the inner work to make themselves whole, and were careful to “ease” their families together.
“I had to love myself and be okay on my own before I could be in a healthy relationship,” Lopez recently told Oprah Winfrey. “I feel like now, I’m good, no matter what. If I’m with somebody, if I’m not with somebody, Jennifer’s happy…that fear of being alone, like if I’m not with somebody I’m going to be so lonely, I’m going to be miserable — It’s like, no, what are you talking about? Your life is amazing and you’re doing what you dreamed of and you have these beautiful kids. What are you thinking?”
