Alexandra Grant says 'every single person I knew' called after going public with boyfriend Keanu Reeves
Keanu Reeves is no longer "The Internet's Boyfriend" as the actor went public with Alexandra Grant in November — and the artist quickly discovered how invested people were in their love life. In a Wednesday interview with Vogue U.K., Grant said everyone reached out after they made their red carpet debut at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Art + Film Gala.
"I think every single person I knew called me in the first week of November, and that’s fascinating," she "wryly" told the magazine. "But the question I’ve been asking in all of this is: 'What is the opportunity for good?'"
Reeves, 55, and Grant, 46, have been close for over a decade (and have reportedly been together for a few years) as they have mutual friends in Los Angeles. They also run X Artists’ Books publishing house together. In 2011, Grant and Reeves published their first book, Ode to Happiness, and their bond was evident.
"The book was made as a surprise, by me, for Keanu, as a private gift," Grant shared. "All our friends sitting in the room got the giggles when I gave it to him — they said, 'Please publish it!' So that’s how we got into publishing."
When asked if she's interested in marriage, Grant evaded the question.
"Over a glass of wine… I would love to tell you," she laughed. "Love at every level is deeply important to my identity. How’s that for dodging the question? I do not believe that isolation is the way. There is a period of isolation that I do as a painter, but I deeply value the experience of being in relationships."
Fitting in isn't something the L.A. based artist worries about.
"I’m a 6ft 1in woman with white hair," she exclaimed. "You know, the idea of fitting in… If I wanted to look like Kim Kardashian, I would have to have surgery removing about a foot off my legs."
