Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says debate was 'breakaway night' for 3 candidates
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) joined a live The Late Show With Stephen Colbert following the first Democratic presidential debate, and the freshman congresswoman weighed in on who she thinks separated themselves from the very large pack.
“I really do think this was a breakaway night,” AOC said. “I think Elizabeth Warren really distinguished herself. I think Julián Castro really distinguished himself. I think Cory Booker did a great job in talking about criminal justice.”
Many who watched the debate agreed.
Unfortunately, some of the lesser-known candidates remain just more faces in the crowd. Asked about Tim Ryan (D-OH) and John Delaney (D-MD), Ocasio-Cortez searched for something to say, but came up with nothing other than, “Ya know, sometimes you’re an underdog until you’re not.”
And, though she believes Warren, Castro and Booker won the night, so far no candidate has won her endorsement.
When Colbert asked who she’s endorsing, AOC replied, “I have endorsed no one yet.” “Oh, you’re not prepared to do that tonight?” Colbert asked. She responded with a laugh, saying, “No, absolutely not.”
The Late Show With Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on CBS.
