Alicia Keys And Swizz Beatz Debut ‘Giants’ Exhibit In Atlanta
Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys take their art collection to the south. Last week, the couple debuted their “Giants: Art from the Dean Collection of Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys” traveling exhibit in Atlanta to a gallery of guests. According to Variety, the display will remain in the city for a five-month residency. Guests on opening night included Lil Baby and Killer Mike, Jermaine Dupri, The-Dream, Sean Garrett, Mike Will Made It, DJ/former MTV VJ Ed Lover, and Roc Nation Executive Lenny Santiago.
“This is a representation of breaking out of all boxes — busting through all ceilings,” Keys said to the audience according to the outlet. “Knowing we are completely unlimited, free to fly. Thank you to our ancestors for bringing us here today. We’re standing on their shoulders. Without them, we couldn’t even be standing here.”
“Giants: Art from the Dean Collection of Swizz Beatz and Alica Keys” opened at the Brooklyn Museum‘s Great Hall in February. Swizz estimates that there are thousands of pieces in their current collection, as he has been collecting since his teenage years.
“The reason why we doubled down on African American art is because people weren’t collecting it. Things flow a little better now. I definitely see changes being made, but we as collectors must take responsibility to shape the market,” noted the Bronx native at the time.
