‘Alien: Romulus’ Sets Hulu Streaming Date Prior To Thanksgiving
The second highest grossing Alien movie in box office history, Alien: Romulus, will hit Hulu on Nov. 21. That’s a 98 day theatrical window, which is pretty robust and par for Disney since returning to windows post former CEO Bob Chapek. Pic’s digital release was on Oct. 15. The title will hit DVD and Blu-Ray on Dec. 3.
The Fede Alvarez directed Alien Romulus grossed $105.3M at the domestic box office and $350.8M worldwide. That’s behind Ridley Scott’s Alien prequel, Prometheus, which made $126.4M domestic, $403.3M worldwide.

Alien Romulus was set 20 years after the original Alien movie (1979) and follows a group of young colonizers who come face-to-face with the worst life form while scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station.
Alvarez told us on Crew Call about his inspirations for the Alien sequel: “I hope people connect with it because it’s such a third world story. That’s where I’m from. If you’re born in the third world, that’s your reality for good, for bad, you’re always going to do good when you grow up.”
“So, the narrative of young people that are born in the place that they feel is the wrong place, where things feel like they’re collapsing around them, and they just want to get out of there, they should look at their parents and look, ‘I don’t want to end up like them.’ That’s a very third world reality.”
Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu star. Alvarez wrote with his frequent collaborator Rodo Sayagues based on characters created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett. Scott produced with Michael Pruss and Walter Hill.
