Alison Sweeney Returning to Days of Our Lives After Two-Year Absence — What Brings Sami Back to Salem?
It’s a good thing Nicole won’t be around to see this: Sami Brady is plotting her return to Salem.
Alison Sweeney is back on the Days of Our Lives set, filming episodes that will begin airing in 2025, TV Insider reports. The actress, whose career now involves too many Hallmark Channel projects to count, was last seen in the iconic locale back in 2022.

“I was thrilled to be invited to return,” Sweeney tells the site. “I love playing Sami and I am always happy for the chance to come back. We always have to figure out scheduling and such, but if at all possible, I’m so glad to make it happen.”
So, what’s bringing John and Roman’s daughter back to her old stomping grounds? Sweeney can’t totally spill the beans yet, but she does admit to being “pretty shocked” by the “unexpected storyline” she was pitched for her long-awaited return.
This leaves Days fans to play the wild speculation game until the circumstances surrounding Sami’s return begin to take shape on screen. We doubt she’s popping by to meet her new nephew, as Eric and baby Jude recently moved to Paris. And Lucas, whose assistance in taking down Clyde Weston got him exonerated for kidnapping Sami, has also relocated to Arizona to spend time with their kids. Johnny is still in town, but if she wants to congratulate him on his wedding to Chanel, she’ll be about a year late.
New episodes of Days of Our Lives stream weekdays on Peacock.
Any theories, Days fans? We’ve got a while to wait until Sami officially returns, so you might as well drop a comment with your early thoughts about Sweeney’s comeback below.
